LET’S MEET FUTURECODE @ASOT900

ASOT900 was hands down one for the books, and we’ve been living our best life wandering around the stages, dancing in the crowd, stopping by the illustrious radio dome and even taking our time to have a chat with a few of the prodigious artists performing at the majestic Jaarbeurs venue.
We’ve been blessed to catch up with FUTURECODE just before they decided to destroy the mainstage with a mindblowing closing set!

TBA: Hi this is Jess from The Backstage Access here with Futurecode

FTC: Heyyy!!

TBA: So guys how do you feel to be here celebrating the 900th episode of ASOT?

FTC: (Ben Gold) Oh yes it’s amazing, to play at any of ASOT events  is exciting, and congratulations to the team for reaching this far, it just keeps getting bigger and better and yeah, it’s great to be here.

TBA: You guys are a true match made in heaven, looking at the socials, there were so much expectations for your set tonight

FTC: (Omnia) Oh really? That’s great, we’re excited about it also, but it’s really nice to see that people are really excited about it as well; we will do our best definitely ’cause we have some really great music, we think so, we believe that, so yeah let’s see.

TBA: You have a few new tunes that are going to be premiered tonight, right?

FTC: (Ben Gold) We were on the live ASOT show 2 days ago we played a mini mix and I think we played maybe 4? (Omnia) I think so yeah! (Ben Gold) We played 4 but think we have probably 7 , and everything we play here has been re-edited or re-designed especially for this set. When you close a festival it’s a responsibility ’cause it’s the last set people are gonna remember when they leave but at the same time as Ben Gold and Omnia and now as Futurecode we have our sound, so we’re gonna be true to our sound and hopefully delivery the set of our lives and we can’t believe we are premiering a new project at A State Of Trance with a closing set.

TBA: Yes it’s insane

FTC: (Ben Gold) It is really insane! I don’t know many others who have done that so yeah we’re excited!

(Omnia) It is definitely such a great start for this new  trance project; I mean we are really happy to be here tonight and really excited about that!

TBA: How did you guys decide to join forces ?

FTC: (Omnia) Well you know we collaborated before, we released 2 tracks together, ‘The Gateway’ and ‘The Conquest’ which I believe are really strong records and we had a really nice feedback from fans all over the world and at some point we realized we had even more ideas and when we went together to the studio it was really easy to work together because we had like the same mindset, both of us love the melodic stuff, the vocal stuff so I think that’s why, like it’s really easy for us to collaborate together.

(Ben Gold) Yeah, it felt natural, it was really easy to work on line or in the studio together we are at the same page at every stage we knew how the record sounded before it was finished, it was just natural, it was just a natural progression from being Ben Gold and Omnia into Futurecode. We’ ve played a really good back2 back set last year at Untold music festival in Romania and we uploaded the set on line and people really enjoyed that and people talked about it a lot so it was kind an easy decision to create Futurecode.

TBA: What about the name FUTURECODE?

FTC: (Ben Gold) He came out with that he was the brain behind it

(Omnia) Yeah yeah exactly ,the first idea was, I don’t know, THE FUTURECODE is definitely a kind of futuristic thing and you can see it now in our new branding; see we’re trying to bring something new in the trance scene we’re trying to be the best we can so I think it’s the right name for both of us to collaborate just the name gives you a kind of good feeling for the future right? You will hear it in our set and you will understand.

TBA: Are you guys planning to make an album together as well?

FTC: (Ben Gold) You know we’ve been working pretty hard for the last 3 months and maybe more preparing this set we also signed an exclusive record contract so there will be many Futurecode singles already planned for this year, everything you gonna hear tonight is gonna be released over the next 6-8 months , we also play at festival all over the world that we can’t announce just yet but I guess in a couple of months you will start seeing FUTURECODE not just in trance stages , we play on mainstages , it’s a really exciting time so let’s see where it goes; it’s been natural up until now so if it’s natural the next step is to come up with an EP or an album, or maybe a tour…that’s what we would do.

TBA: Beside that are you still working on your own projects?

FTC: (Omnia) Well, me personally I was focused on the Futurecode in the last months, we discussed it a lot before we started and I think it’s really important to know the direction you are moving to, right? We really want to make it a big debut show here at ASOT because this is such a great opportunity and this is the mainstage so…(Ben Gold) Yeah, we talked about it and we both agreed you can’t be 100% into 2 things so we dedicated the last 3 months of our lives to this project and yes Omnia is a prolific trance name, Ben Gold is doing pretty well too so this is not the ned of these 2 guys  but just for now we focused on one thing at time.

TBA: Thanks a lot guys for your time and see you later on the mainstage

FTC: Thank you!

SUPER8 & TAB EMERGE WITH LEGACY-STRENGTHENING MIX COMPILATION: ‘PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE’

One of the oldest traditions in DJ culture, mixtapes have given listeners a consistent window into the musical thought process of countless of the planet’s top electronic artists, from the Northern Exposure series of Digweed and Sasha to the ASOT specials of Armin van Buuren. Continuing the practice and ushering in the next chapter of their trance legacy are Finnish stars Super8 & Tab, who release their new compilation album today: ‘Past, Present & Future’.

Listen to Super8 & Tab – Past, Present & Future

Having already set the trance sphere alight with a stunning 2019 remix of their classic single ‘Helsinki Scorchin’’ and brand-new track ‘Lungs’, the duo have swiftly signaled their intent to up the ante from 2018’s highly acclaimed ‘Reformation’ period. Speaking from their studio in Finland, Miika Eloranta and Janne Mansnerus explained the concept behind the new series.

“Whenever we play out in the clubs or at festivals, fans always ask us to play tracks from across our whole back catalogue, not just the latest hits. There are so many trance tracks that still have just as much of an impact today as they did when they were first released, and we don’t feel DJs should be limited to only playing what’s out right now. For us, that ignores truly incredible music. With ‘Past, Present & Future’ we’re taking our fans on a deep journey through trance, with originals from years ago, our own remixed versions of some of those tracks, singles that are on release right now and also new music that people won’t have heard but that we feel is strong enough to stand in out set list. It’s very much what people can expect from us when they come to see our shows out on tour.”

As with any mixtape, the success of ‘Past, Present & Future’ ultimately boils down to the quality of its track selection. As expected from an act that has been around for well over a decade, there’s a wealth of music to choose from. Tracks featured in the mix include the spine-tingling beauty of Above & Beyond’s Club Mix of their Marty Longstaff single ‘Flying By Candlelight’ and Cosmic Gate’s remix of Giuseppe De Luca and Ilan Bluestone’s ‘Frozen Ground’. The soaring, hands-in-the-air euphoria of Super8 & Tab’s remix of Myon & Late Night Alumni’s ‘Hearts & Silence’ sits perfectly alongside Luke Bond’s remix of ‘Burn’. Erupting with energy are the roaring, thunderous crescendos of festival-ready singles ‘Thrive’ and the Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Armin van Buuren and W&W monster ‘Repeat After Me’. From start to finish the mix is a twisting, turning, rollercoaster ride from the Finsn that perfectly showcases their instinctive ability not just to dominate the dance floor, but to turn it into a living, breathing creature that delivers life-changing moments for those lucky enough to experience it.

Fans can expect to see Super8 & Tab roll out ‘Past, Present & Future’ on the global tour circuit, with headline shows already confirmed for London’s Ministry of Sound and Zouk in Singapore. SUPER8 & TAB ANNOUNCE MIX SERIES ‘PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE’ AND NEW SINGLE ‘LUNGS’

ARMADA MUSIC – FEBRUARY 22ND 2019

PRESAVE ‘PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE’: https://armada.dj/social/s8tppf

Fans of Finnish trance superstars Super8 & Tab praying for new music might want to start asking for a winning lottery ticket too, because just days after Miika Eloranta and Janne Masnerus dropped a ferocious new 2019 remix of their 2006 classic ‘Helsinki Scorchin’’, the pair unleash a brand new masterpiece that signals the start of yet another huge run of musical goodness.

Super8 & Tab’s new single ‘Lungs’ is absolute classic stadium-busting production from the Finns. Bubbling away in the depths below Izzy Warner’s ethereal top line, the single is deftly and precisely contained before being allowed to erupt upwards. Roaring percussion and trademark sweeping, rushing, stabbing synth sections should see the track confidently dominate the early run of 2019 setlists from the great and the good of international trance.

‘Lungs’ is – as yet – the only track to drop from upcoming mixtape ‘Past, Present & Future’, the stunning follow on project from the 2018 Super8 & Tab ‘Reformation’ album. The new long player sees the duo offer their take on the long-established tradition of the DJ compilation. Serving up the very best of legacy, current and future trance into one scintillating, spine-tingling mix, the album not only encapsulate the pure talent of Super8 & Tab behind the decks, but also takes the listener on a timeless journey through the breadth and depth of trance music at its very best.

‘Past, Present & Futures’ sees the light of day via Armada Music on March 8th with pre-save available here (LINK). To stream and download ‘Lungs’ on all portals, click here (LINK). For all things Super8 & Tab, visit www.super8andtab.com.

DRIFTMOON – REMEMBER THE NIGHT [RECORDED LIVE AT EPIC]

Yep, there’s always gotta be something unique in there!” chuckles Juraj Klička. Generally speaking Driftmoon’s passing comment on his approach to albums. More specifically though it’s about ‘Remember The Night’ – his just-announced third collection. “It’s a crowded field, he says of the format, so to me, they have to have something that will set them apart.” Bringing USPs to his longplayers is something the Prague native’s developed a track record for. With its hybrid orchestration, his first (‘R(E)volution’) connected the worlds of electronic and classical music. Last summer’s ‘Invitcus’ meanwhile upped the ‘original’ ante further, with its half music/half audiobook concept lingering long in the memory.

Now – in full album stride, Juraj is at it again. ‘Remember The Night’, which arrives this March, approaches from another remarkably different angle. “If they happen at all, he says, live album performances tend to be the ‘what comes after’. The one that follows the classic studio album release. Here though I wanted the live experience to be people’s first connection with it. It’s called ‘club music’ after all, so let’s introduce it that way!”

No coincidence admittedly, but Juraj was well positioned to make that happen. Evermore over the last ten years, the Czech capital’s Epic club has become a bucket-list essential for music lovers from Europe and far, far beyond. As Epic DJ resident, the club provided the optimum platform for Juraj to mount a live rendition of the album.

Further, its occasion allowed Driftmoon to bring in another aspect that’s long held his interest. “I’m as fascinated as the next person by the link between memories and music – possibly even more soEven before I was a DJ or producer I was aware that every remarkable moment in my life – happy or otherwise – somehow had a piece of music ‘attached’ to it. I guess one of every musician’s wishes is to be behind a track that leaves that type of impact. So between writing this album and its first performance, it became something of a mission to try and hit thatHow it works out, well only time will tell!

Of the performance itself though, Juraj admits to having some pre-show butterflies. “When you’re doing a DJ set, you work on the premise that a percentage of the crowd will be familiar with a percentage of the tracks. Here, I was working on the absolute knowledge that none of the audience would know any of the tracks! I think when we’re feeling emotional extremes, our receptors are that much more open. Memories consequently become even more intense. I think the audience at Epic really tapped into that and – as you can hear on the album – got swept up in the night!

Alongside ‘Remember The Night’s solo moments, Driftmoon did call on some particular close chums and musical confidants to collaborate on its creation. Subsequently it came to include music made with Robert Nickson (under the duo’s Astrosphere moniker), Ferry Tayle and Ahmed Romel. Further, its also became a platform for a long overdue studio return for Paul ‘Re:Locate’ Moelands, as well as a pairing with much-revered studio savant, Geert Huinink.

Recorded live at Epic, ‘Remember The Night’ is released March 1. It’s available to stream/purchase here: https://blackhole.choons.at/remember

FRANCESCA LOMBARDO SHARES DEBUT LP ‘LIFE OF LEAF’

ALBUM SINGLE ‘EYE RING’ BECOMES SOUNDCLOUD’S 200 MILLIONTH UPLOAD

Francesca Lombardo unveils her highly anticipated debut LP, a collection of songs that are forward-thinking, powerful and made from the heart. Merging the world of electronic music with Francesca Lombardo’s classical upbringing, ‘Life of Leaf’ promotes a creative process more focussed on vocal performance and live instrumentation than just computers and synthesizers. The result is a deeply evocative record set to soundtrack our lives for years to come, illustrated perfectly by, among others, album single ‘Eye Ring’, which became SoundCloud’s 200 millionth upload yesterday.

Listen to Francesca Lombardo – Life Of Leaf LP

Ruminating on the album, Francesca Lombardo describes how it is “a mixture of all the styles I love, it reflects every aspect of my sound, telling my story through each lyric and every instrument or piece of equipment I’ve used. It represents me fully, 100% me.”

A long player presents the chance for an artist to set out their own intentions, creating their own narrative. For Francesca Lombardo, ‘Life of Leaf’ segues away from the dance floor and positions her as a multi-disciplinary artist enamored with live performance.

Through ‘Life of Leaf’, Francesca Lombardo reconnects with what music composition means to her. Every aspect of her distinctly rich sound palette is reflected via sophisticated instrumentation and a lifelong affection for electronic music, one that is interchangeable in style yet rooted in the heartbeat of personality and fundamental life experiences.
