One of the highlights of our night at ASOT900 was for sure catching up with one of our favorite artist of Statement! , Mr.Estiva! He had the responsibility to open the Mainstage this year, so we’ve been following him up close from the front row during his smashing set right after Armin van Buuren’s delighting warm up, and we sat with him for a follow up of our last chat at ADE,and were itching to know how his album is shaping up and if he could give us some insights about it, so go on to check what he told us.
TBA: Hi, this is Jess from The Backstage Access, here with the amazing Estiva!
E: Here we go again!
TBA: Yes, how does it feel?
E: It feels great, I am feeling good, yeah! I’ve got a load of energy, I liked it tonight, it was different cause I played so many new tunes, well I think I had a unique set and I am happy with it and I think the crowd was happy with that too cause they were dancing.
TBA: Of course, they loved it! How is it going with your busy schedule? You are just coming off from Slovakia, right?
E: Yeah I was playing in Slovakia but it’s only 1 hour or 2 away; I actually got tested what I was playing tonight , it was good to be there and there was a great crowd last night , a great crowd today, so I am a happy man!
TBA: So how do you read the crowd… seeing the reaction to your tunes?
E: Well when you are up there on the stage you see a mass of people, sometimes it’s dark, sometimes you can just see one light , and then you see some faces, or moving heads , so you don’t really live what you are doing there..
TBA: Have you seen someone thinking in the crowd…like you were telling me in a previous interview?
E: Yeah you know when you play new music ..well ususally when you are on the dance floor and you know the music you are all dancing like yeah yeah I know this tune , and you know exactly what is going to happen, while what happens if you don’t know the tune is that if you don’t feel it you start thinking,if you are feeling it you start dancing….and I think it’s what happened a lot tonight, I mean I played a lot of new music and they were dancing so all is good.
TBA: How is it going with Spectacle2?
E: Well Ruben told me to release the whole set as an album but this is not going to happen..
TBA: Why not?
E: Well, becausethere is a remixI did for Temper Trap “Sweet Disposition”, that I probably can’t clear that sample, so it’s not quite perfect butI like the idea, there’s a lot of tunes I played that can be in the album
TBA: Ok so we must be a little more patient…
E: Well it’s scheduled for May
TBA: Wow my birthday month!!
E: What day?
E: Ok, I’ll tell Armada to release it on that day, haha! No ,I am really not sure if we can make it… but definitely this year.
TBA: Are you also working on some collaboration?
E: Not really too many collaborations right now, I’ve done a few with Ruben but an actual follow up to Rainbow is still need to happen but I think it twill happen this year, we are both up for it. Other than that, just me in the studio 24/7 , doing my thing, it’s the way I like it ,to be focused.
TBA: If you have to choose 3 thing to take with you wherever you go?
E: My phone with music on it, my eyepatches, and ear plugs
TBA: Do you have any lucky charm?
E: Not really, but ususally right before I get on stage I do like 2 push ups …so I can do…hahaha , no, it helps me release the tension, to get in the mood, to get the blood pumping…
TBA: I’ve seen it in your insta stories sometimes!
E: Yeah, it helps.
TBA: Thanks a lot for your time and see you very soon.
E: See you soon!
When several of Progressive Trance’s finest artists get together to teach electronic music production, great things are bound to happen. While spending a week in Bulgaria teaching fans from different parts of the world how to make music, Ørjan Nilsen, Dennis Sheperd, Nifra and Estiva suddenly found themselves in a completely unexpected, impromptu collaboration. The result is – unsurprisingly – a blistering production aptly titled ‘Cabin Fever’, which sees its release on In My Opinion with an additional club mix from label boss Ørjan Nilsen himself.
The product of one of the biggest progressive collaborations of the year, ‘Cabin Fever’ showcases what happens when Ørjan Nilsen, Dennis Sheperd, Nifra and Estiva do what they do best: the inception of a track that heats up the dance floor like no other. Armed with an anthemic melody, pulsating bass and a sizzling build-up, ‘Cabin Fever’ was fueled up by the talent and energy of four divergent producers and finished in just a matter of hours. It might just be the biggest surprise of the year.
Ørjan Nilsen x Dennis Sheperd x Nifra x Estiva: “When we joined Trance Retreat as instructors to teach our craft, we didn’t know we’d end up jamming together. We inspired each other endlessly, fed on the beauty of the Bulgarian mountains and the motivation and passions of our students, and came up with a track called ‘Cabin Fever’, which we finished by – and played at the Trance Retreat party at – the end of the weekend. It has since become a staple track in all over our live sets. It ties in perfectly with our respective signature sounds, which is what makes it sound so unique and fresh, and the crowd’s reaction to it has been absolutely amazing. It has been a fun ride reading people’s speculations on whose ID it is.”
Estiva’s new track ‘The Maze’ will make you lose yourself on the dancefloor.
We spoke to Estiva about how the track came to be. This is what he had to say: “With The Maze I wanted to focus on getting lost in the music. The whole track evolves around a straight forward arpeggio sound, accompanied by a driving bassline. You constantly feel tension and you’re asking yourself where the track is taking you. The up- and downrising fx on the main lead give you that extra dimension of hypnotic vibe which I love on the dancefloor!”
Once the winding build-up enters the equation, you can’t go back. A tune you can’t help but lose yourself in, ‘The Maze’ sees Estiva conjure up another signature Progressive Trance cut meant to keep you hooked from start to finish. It’s one of the most-lauded singles from his ‘Spectacle’ album for a reason, y’know?
It’s no secret that ESTIVA is hands down one of the artists we love more here at The Backstage Access, so during last Amsterdam Dance Event, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to join him at Armada Music Headquarter to catch up on the latest news about him and his music.
He played an enthralling set during ASOT streaming that Thursday, featuring 3 brand new tracks of him;
like he told us back in June when we met in Ibiza, Steven has plenty of material for ‘Spectacle 2’ but looks like we need to be patient and wait for the release next year.
We also talked about tour life and the ability to handle it, as it can be stressing sometimes, and then Estiva revealed us he really enjoys testing new tunes to put the crowd out of its comfort zone with something never heard before.
Enjoy our chat here:
The Dutch electronic dance music DJ has performed at events across the world, Estiva has brought his infectious sound and energy to some of the most pivotal events in the scene. His new track ‘Rage Race’ shows a totally different side of his album ‘Spectacle’.
Estiva: ‘As much as I love the pretty and emotional melodies, sometimes I just feel like raving and raging on the dance floor. Rage Race is a bass driven track I wrote having a dark and steamy club environment in mind. I named it Rage Race because I want to see which one of you clubbers can go out of its mind best!’
Be ready to go on another crazy ride with Estiva, listen to ‘Rage Race’ here.
Definitely one of the darker tracks from his ‘Spectacle’ album, ‘Rage Race’ shows another side to the acclaimed signature sound of Dutch top producer Estiva. Merging a vicious sounding bassline with thumping beats and buzzing synth rises, this tune sets the mood as soon as it kicks in late at night.
And talking about dark and steamy clubs, we met Estiva during the summer at the world famous club Hi Ibiza, and sat down with him for a chat, check this out!
Finally!! We’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now!! Our beloved Statement’s artist Estiva is presenting his very own brand new album!
Estiva is a music machine. Blasting out music like no other. Therefore he had to combine them and create an album for you. The end result? ‘Spectacle I’ which will take you on a musical journey you will never forget. Out tomorrow, please go and enjoy a spectacle of sound!
No journey of an artist is a road without pits, nor is it a smooth ride without hiccups. Sometimes even the best hit a dead end, not knowing where to go or turn until they circle back to find what incited their passion for writing and performing music in the first place. After stumbling upon a towering brick wall three years ago, Estiva sought to reinvent himself and his music, to return to that special place where inspiration flowed freely. And today, after teasing some of his new work and receiving tons of plaudits for the fineness of his craft, he comes bearing his wondrous second artist album: ‘Spectacle I’.
With ‘Spectacle I’, Estiva lays bare a piece of his heart and soul – of the fiery passion that needed to be kindled in order to flare up again. Featuring records such as ‘Cubes’, ‘Rainbow’ (with Ruben de Ronde), ‘Bloom’, ‘Alive’, ‘Quickdraw’ and massive fan favorite ‘Sun Goes Down’, the album sees Estiva magnify the qualities of his trademark sound and spark fourteen priceless gems used to turn the story of his struggle into a wonderful and compelling narrative: a spectacle on a whole other level.
Estiva: “Three years ago, I crashed; I was ultimately stuck. Nothing I wrote could satisfy me any more artistically. The passion for music that I once had so vividly deteriorated drastically. I felt like it was time to step out of the musical rollercoaster as the ride was destined to come to an end very soon. But when I started to get used to the idea of letting go of music, that very same notion cleared my mind. After a brief intermission, I started to write music again, without any expectations from myself or other people. I found myself able to translate anything that came up in my mind into actual sounds without having anyone, including myself, judging it. It was back to basics and it worked magic for me. After three years of writing music for this album, I started to realize that my take on music had strongly developed. Without being aware of it, I had been shaping my vision. The variation in tracks I wrote felt confusing at first, but as I was writing more and more tracks, a cohesion arose: like a spectacle of sound.”
Estiva delivers another great trance record. The Dutch DJ releases the track ‘Alive’ from the upcoming album ‘Spectacle ’. A melodic, 80’s inspired track with nostalgic sounds.
Proving yet another sublime Progressive spin on the Estiva trademark sound, ‘Alive’ is one of those tunes no dance music fan can resist. Included on part one of his sophomore album ‘Spectacle’, this track is the kind you live for and will never get enough of.
Marking another essential part of his second artist album called ‘Spectacle’, ‘Quickdraw’ sees Estiva hit the bullseye again. Shooting at the dancefloor with its deep-delving bassline and free-ranging arpeggios, this cut excited the crowd with pin-point accuracy.
Let’s face it, what kind of Friday would it be without a Statement! release?
So here we go with one of our favorite artist, Estiva!!!
While his upcoming album ‘Spectacle’ will keep us waiting for a little longer, we got at least a tasty sneak preview .
‘Cubes’ is the opening track of the album and will provide us with ultimate chill vibes by means of a beautiful piano and euphoric chords, but will kick off the flow of adrenaline in our bodies when it drops!
The opening track of Estiva’s brand-new album ‘Spectacle’, ‘Cubes’ sees the Dutch DJ, producer and master of the progressive sound offer another slice of his peerless production skill. Enchanting listeners from the get-go with its stellar atmospheres and colorful plucks, this cut sure is a telling precursor of what’s to come from Estiva and his tantalizing album.
Statement! treat alert!!! Estiva is back with such a juicy tune that is part of his ‘Spectacle’ album; let’s enjoy some summerish uplifting vibes here: https://STM220.lnk.to/BloomPR
An evergreen slice of wonder taken from part 1 of Estiva’s second album ‘Spectacle’, ‘Bloom’ blossoms like a flower in spring. Radiant, colorful and uplifting at its core, this tune has the glimmer of a clear blue sky and the brilliance of the summer sun. Ergo, irresistible on all fronts.
