Niko Zografos returns to Future Sound of Egypt with new single “Porto Katsiki”

As the guy who was once just a fan has now established his name on a global level. San Francisco born and raised Niko Zografos returns to Future Sound of Egypt yet again with his new track ‘’Porto Katsiki‘’. After the successful reign of his single ‘’Mykonos’’ featured in the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix by Aly & Fila themselves, Niko continues with a steady flow of releases in some of the top imprints in the scene.

The SF DJ and producer is of greek descent, often spreading the love for Greece through dedicated tracks. ‘’Porto Katsiki’’ refers to one of the most beautiful beaches in this historic hotspot. It is a toned to perfection representation of current Uplifting tactics and nostalgic elements, which transform into a cheerful, yet emotionally powerful lead. Complimented with a portion of mysterious vocals, it generates a plethora of various emotions.

Key figure in the #TranceFamily movement in his area, Niko Zografos not only delivers on point productions, but also owns his own promotion company Phoria Events, responsible for some of the best trance shows in San Francisco, but is also a resident of the iconic Ruby Skye club. Named as one of the 5 acts not to be missed at Dreamstate SF by no other than Insomniac themselves, he just continuously grows a portfolio of legendary shows in his agenda.

Hard-working, good hearted and a guy of many talents, it is certain we are yet to hear the best of Niko Zografos soon. Buy link:

You want it harder, faster and way, way louder?!! Then you’re gonna want it Sneijder, and you’re definitely gonna want it served up live from Buenos Aires!

Turn the dial up to eleven and assume that brace position for an hour & twenty of the Irish maverick captured in his slamming full-flight element in the Argentine capital. Every fader flip, FX knob crank, pitch warp, bass boom and resultant crowd whoop ‘n’ cheer coded real-time, raw, uncut and underground and mainlining its way to you this very month!

A man always on point, this is trance music served with more extra-shots than you can count and maxed out at XXXL! Music from the blunt-force likes of Richard Durand, Bryan Kearney, Alex Di Stefano, David Forbes, Will Rees and others are all whipped combustively into its mix. Bet on plenty from Sneijder’s own personal arsenal too, including his new flaming rework of Lustral’s epic ‘Everytime’!

‘Afterdark 001 – Buenos Aires, Compiled & Mixed By Sneijder’ coming atcha Aug 24th!

Sneijder fires ‘Afterdark001’s starting gun with a double tap of Alex Di Stefano gear. His Dogzilla ‘Dogzilla’ remix and the Italian’s own ‘The Sin’ set pace and tone. Representing newer blood, in quick succession Iain M, Project 8 and Paul Denton respectively fuel the fires in Buenos Aires with ‘Psychoactivity’, ‘Submerge’ and ‘Formula One’.

Cresting towards its midpoint, Sneijder opens up an elevating triptych of his own material. Nick Callaghan elevating, energizing collab ‘Absorb’, ‘Killer Instinct’ – his Picotto-esque team-up with Bryan Kearney and his freshly-minted update of Lustral’s classic ‘Everytime’ keep that mix-mercury climbing.

Richard Durand’s hot-from-the-mixing-desk ‘Lotus’ and one of this year’s biggest trancers ‘Need You’ from Will Rees’ on Kearnage ensure the euphoric levels are topped off, while David Forbes & Iain M’s ‘Intruder’ spin mix-matters back out tech-trance way. Capping the mix off, Sneijder drops his own tech-ily energized deuce ‘Neutralize’ and ‘Awakening’, before Bryan Kearney & Deirdre McLaughlin put a final vocally anthemic note to the mix with the empyrean ‘Open My Mind’.

– ‘Symbols’ forthcoming October 2018.

– Pre-registration for 12/10/18 launch show at London’s The Printworks now open via

Hands up who saw this one coming! In a move as welcome as it is unforeseen, Paul van Dyk surprise announced today news that a new album’s inbound. In production under-the-radar for nine months, it is (according to the empirical source) “in the final stages of recording” and – signalling a newly won creative flow – will release just a year after ‘From Then On’.

The album will come under the title ‘Symbols’, with its concept originating from PvD’s interest in “historic mysteries, clandestine societies and their respective codes & cyphered meanings”.

The other major takeaway today (and giving audiences the clearest possible idea as to when ‘Symbols’ will materialise) is that pre-registration has unlocked for the album’s October launch show. It’s an extra special, first-of-its-kind deal too, with new London club landmark The Printworks housing the début performance. At once industrially atmospheric and ethereally gothic, PvD saw the former newspaper printing plant as the perfect backdrop to frame ‘Symbols’. Having already played host to some of the biggest names in electronic music, on October 12 van Dyk will become the first artist to send trance around its history-infused walls.

If you want to guarantee yourself one of the limited day-one places available to experience ‘Symbols’ music, now is the time to act. You can pre-register for tickets via here.

With the greater part of three months to go until release, further info on the album’s exact nature – collaborations most notably – remains scarce. As recently as his Tomorrowland set however, track Easter Eggs were rumoured to have appeared. With a trail leading through Mysteryland, Creamfields and his SHINE Ibiza sets, more – its hinted – will be there for the keener eyed & eared.

When commenting on the announcement, cryptically, PvD did let a few potential bigger-picture insights slip. Mentioning that the album’s concept would “place historic mysteries in a modern context”, he said ‘Symbols’ would be “a reflection of the more indistinct nature of today’s world. The ‘story behind the story’, the power behind the power, etc has always has always fascinated me – this album’s going to hold a mirror up to that”.

We’re guessing he doesn’t mean your average reflective kind. A puzzle wrapped in an encryption, sealed in a labyrinth, can only remain a puzzle wrapped in an encryption, sealed in a labyrinth for so long.
What (and who) lies behind ‘Symbols’, time alone will tell. But tell it will.

If Schulz history teaches us anything, it’s ‘don’t count on Markus to do the expected’! Whether it’s reinterpreting indie-folk with ‘Facedown’, getting collaborative with hip-hop’s hall-of-fame on ‘Sleepwalkers’, taking Dakota (and everyone else) down the rabbit hole or writing the lyrics for his ‘Watch The World’ album, his next artistic gymnastic is rarely more than a script-flip away.

In fact it’s right here!

The impulse behind ‘Upon My Shoulders’ came to Markus in a reflective moment shortly after his mainstage Tomorrowland set a year ago. “As a DJ, he says, when you look out across an audience like Tomorrowland’s and you see hundreds – thousands maybe, of people carrying others on the shoulders. It’s a powerful and stimulating and unifying sight, which sparks the imagination endlessly. Every one of those guys & girls has a connection with the other – a friendship and a story that – very likely – goes way, way beyond the physical bounds of the event. That thought, along with that unbeatable ‘upon your shoulders’ / ‘nothing can touch me’ feeling became something I really had to capture in a piece of music”.

The idea itself however proved to be more straightforward than the realisation.

What I had in mind I knew needed a male voice. Inherently I also was aware that far from every singer-songwriter could pull off a song like that. To nail it requires some first-hand experience of its theme. It had to be exactly the right voice, with exactly the right lyrical touch and connection to it. It was, he laughs, a bit frustrating there for a few months. The back of my mind was telling me I’d heard that voice before. I just couldn’t put my finger on whose it was!”

That was until Markus & crew were in LA, front end of this year and – serendipitously – ‘One Minute More’ came on the radio. The voice – Markus was more than aware – belonged to Sebu, frontman for indietronica duo Capital Cities’.

It was says Markus “the best kind of a lightning bolt moment. Tim, Mike (from Grube & Hovesepian) and I had remixed ‘One Minute More’ four years back, precisely because we loved his vocal so much. I said ‘we have to get Sebu on this track’. From there, all the missing pieces fell right into place. He has realised that moment, the feeling, the story and all brilliantly. Exactly as I had it in my mind, back at Tomorrowland 2017”.

If ‘Upon My Shoulders’ sounds in even the remotest bit familiar, well no major surprise. As far back as May’s EDC LV, Markus has been trialling versions and edits of it at his open-air sets. The joy, the spirit, the feeling and those zero-cares moments have all been swept up and into its strummed guitars, bold drums, irresistibly throw-your-hands-up melody and feverishly infectious vocal. Exhilarating, ebullient, enriching – the song that’s going to complete your summer is right here!

This one’s going out to ‘the real heroes’” says a tongue-in-cheek Markus. “If you’ve ever carried someone on your shoulders, either actually or spiritually – this one is all about you!”

Globally renowned live-electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL release their second offering ‘Underwater’ from forthcoming album ‘Solace’. The track espouses the boundary-pushing production, and soaring vocals that RÜFÜS DU SOL have built their name on. ‘Underwater’ is another glimpse at the band’s on-going evolution, following the band’s debut track ‘No Place.” ‘SOLACE,’ out this fall, promises to elevate RÜFÜS DU SOL’s emotive and captivating sonic storytelling to another level.

‘Underwater’ arrives in the midst of constant noise surrounding the juggernaut of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s touring schedule. The band moves towards three sold out shows at both Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall and New York’s Terminal 5, forthcoming sell-outs at London’s O2 Forum and Manchester’s Club Academy, and a standout Halloween performance at San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center arena. Additional fall dates include sold out shows at Emo’s in Austin, TX, The Van Buren in Phoenix, Denver’s The Fillmore, and a festival set at Voodoo Music & Arts Experience.

Comprised of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, RÜFÜS DU SOL occupy the intersection of propulsive indie music and emotive house. They have managed to combine the DIY live aesthetics of rock with the euphoria of classic club culture, creating a sonic realm all their own.

The band’s debut album, ATLAS, reached No. 1 on the Australian charts and reaped Platinum status – successes that were repeated with its follow-up record, Bloom. Released in 2016, Bloom offered such iconic singles as “You Were Right” and “Innerbloom,” and launched RÜFÜS DU SOL on a two-year international tour, playing over 100 sold-out shows across 13 countries.

RÜFÜS DU SOL has spent the past year in Venice, CA, writing and recording their third album, which is largely influenced by the dichotomy of the stark desert landscapes and beautiful coastline of California. It’s a fuller exploration of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s ever evolving musical spectrum, a deeper dive and a more intimate glimpse into both melancholy and transcendence.

“It feels like a new RÜFÜS,” the trio says. “We are inspired by our new home out here, by the people we’ve met and the music we’ve heard along the way. We’ve got a refreshed sense of ambition and cannot wait to share our creation with the world.”
