Maya Jane Coles delivers a new EP of dark and atmospheric remixes taken from her sophomore double length album ‘Take Flight’. Teaming up with Brighton based duo GAPS on title track ‘Keep Me Warm’, Maya interlaces poignant and hypnotics vocals with her characteristic and compelling production.

On the remix front fellow Londoner ABSOLUTE serves two energetic rave infused cuts and while his “1am Remix” of Keep Me Warm will be available exclusively through Beatport both remixes are sure to add to the mass of tastemaker support he has received over the last 12 months.

The American songwriter Wendy Rae Fowler who has previously completed high profile vocal col-laborations with Queens of the Stone Age and most recently with UNKLE‘s Richard File We Fell to Earth project lends her dusty and melancholy vocals alongside visceral guitar chords on the mas-terpiece ‘A Chemical Affair.; a melancholy track arguably motivated by the shadows of Insomnia that stood out amongst critics upon the release of Maya’s album last year.

Also on the release, ‘Go on And Make It Through’ leans towards Maya’s club focus; providing as-sertive 4/4 beats that are sure to make it into her summer sets which includes several appearanc-es at ANTSIbiza, Pacha and Junction 2 Festival London.

‘‘Take Flight’ which features the original versions of Keep Me Warm, My Chemical Affair and Go On & Make It Through is available on Double CD / Heavy Weight 3 x Vinyl Box Set / USB / Digital plus a limited Deluxe Hardback Book CD format and also be exclusively available via Maya’s artist store.

‘INVICTUS’ BY DRIFTMOON

In 2016, Juraj ‘Driftmoon’ Klička released ‘(R)Evolution’ – his first artist album. Its arrival provoked a warm reception from DJs, big love from fans and positive noises from press. This July, less than 24 months on, his sophomore lands. It is a follow-up really in name only. Between the two pieces lies a gulf, striking in both size and nature. With ‘Invictus’, in pretty much every way imaginable, Juraj has raised aim, game and ultimately the Driftmoon name.

‘Invictus’ started life not as sounds, but as words and pictures, in graphic novel form. With a mediation-on-loss its central theme, (per Juraj himself) it deals with “a story told from the perspective of a father who is recording his memoirs, before going to the funeral of his two children who’ve died far away, and in circumstances unknown”.

An extraordinary subject to author on, as Juraj is not yet a father himself.

Lending more insight to this, the Slovakian continues: “I am a firm believer that strong and emotional life experiences can change a human being in their entirety. I wrote the story to try and gain an understanding of how a parent must feel when they lose something they’ve given life to. There’s a lot of my own experiences bedded into the story but he clarifies they are figurative in its overall scheme”.

To realise ‘Invictus’ in its entirety, it was necessary for Juraj to co-opt talent from both inside the trance realm and out. Over its course, co-producers working alongside him came to include Giuseppe Ottaviani, Eco and The Thrillseekers, as well as studio contemporaries like Robert Nickson, Ferry Tayle and Exis. He also drew on a wealth of singing talent to add additional shades to its story. ‘Invictus’ has lyrical and vocal contributions from Julie Thompson, Merethe Soltvedt and others – their songs frequently metaphoric parallels echoing its unfolding plot.

Playing a key role in the album’s extraordinary make-up are its spoken interludes, which relate the story of ‘Invictus’. Driftmoon became reacquainted with voiceover artist Robert Polo (with who he’d previously worked and who plays the central part of the father). Polo, in turn, connected him with an American couple living in Prague (Shakespearian actors Guy Roberts & Jessica Boone) who voiced the story’s siblings.

Commencing in the summer of 2017, storyboarding and writing the screenplay for ‘Invictus’ took 6 months. The germ of every new track produced for album took seed through an idea on that started life on Juraj’s storyboard. The music mirrors the arc and mood of the tale. From the melancholic & lamenting to the hopeful & uplifting, it ebbs and flows, engaging the listener with the plot in a multidimensional manner.

Apart from the very ending I wrote the whole storyline myself, says Driftmoon. As I do not have kids yet, Robert told me he would write the final monologue, where the father is recording the very last message, talking about his children. “It was, he says, one of the most emotional moments in my life when he, a professional recording artist, broke down during the recording session, imagining himself in the same shoes as his character”.

A project epic in scope and boundless in imagination, one ripe with ambition and ‘nothing’s impossible’ attitude, ‘Inviticus’ is a “production” in the truest senses of the words. A release unlike any other from electronic music’s quarter, you can advance order Driftmoon’s extraordinary ‘Invictus’ here: https://driftmoon.choons.at/invictus

ESTIVA NARRATES HIS MUSICAL REBIRTH THROUGH A BRILLIANT AND COMPELLING ALBUM: ‘SPECTACLE I’

Finally!! We’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now!! Our beloved Statement’s artist Estiva is presenting his very own brand new album!

Estiva is a music machine. Blasting out music like no other. Therefore he had to combine them and create an album for you. The end result? ‘Spectacle I’ which will take you on a musical journey you will never forget. Out tomorrow, please go and enjoy a spectacle of sound!

Listen HERE

No journey of an artist is a road without pits, nor is it a smooth ride without hiccups. Sometimes even the best hit a dead end, not knowing where to go or turn until they circle back to find what incited their passion for writing and performing music in the first place. After stumbling upon a towering brick wall three years ago, Estiva sought to reinvent himself and his music, to return to that special place where inspiration flowed freely. And today, after teasing some of his new work and receiving tons of plaudits for the fineness of his craft, he comes bearing his wondrous second artist album: ‘Spectacle I’.

With ‘Spectacle I’, Estiva lays bare a piece of his heart and soul – of the fiery passion that needed to be kindled in order to flare up again. Featuring records such as ‘Cubes’, ‘Rainbow’ (with Ruben de Ronde), ‘Bloom’, ‘Alive’, ‘Quickdraw’ and massive fan favorite ‘Sun Goes Down’, the album sees Estiva magnify the qualities of his trademark sound and spark fourteen priceless gems used to turn the story of his struggle into a wonderful and compelling narrative: a spectacle on a whole other level.

Estiva: “Three years ago, I crashed; I was ultimately stuck. Nothing I wrote could satisfy me any more artistically. The passion for music that I once had so vividly deteriorated drastically. I felt like it was time to step out of the musical rollercoaster as the ride was destined to come to an end very soon. But when I started to get used to the idea of letting go of music, that very same notion cleared my mind. After a brief intermission, I started to write music again, without any expectations from myself or other people. I found myself able to translate anything that came up in my mind into actual sounds without having anyone, including myself, judging it. It was back to basics and it worked magic for me. After three years of writing music for this album, I started to realize that my take on music had strongly developed. Without being aware of it, I had been shaping my vision. The variation in tracks I wrote felt confusing at first, but as I was writing more and more tracks, a cohesion arose: like a spectacle of sound.”

ARMIN VAN BUUREN – SHIVERS ( ALPHA 9 REMIX)

It’s been a long thirteen years since Armin van Buuren dropped ‘Shivers’ as part of his sophomore album of the same name. Having become a much loved favorite across the globe, the song has proven seminal in the evolution of trance music throughout the years. Today, fellow electronic music star ALPHA 9 comes knocking with a breathtaking remix.

Listen HERE

One word: goosebumps. Now revisited by none other than ALPHA 9, Armin van Buuren and Susana’s ‘Shivers’ has remained a seminal single and globally beloved classic since its initial release in 2005 and now re-emerges for at least an additional thirteen years of wonder through by the gentle sound mash ALPHA 9 calls his own. For certain, this will remain a staple for decades to come.

“The original version of ‘Shivers’ by Armin is one of my all-time favorite songs: it’s the reason why I started to listen to trance music back in 2005” confirms ALPHA 9 aka Artem Stoliarov (Arty), adding “It’s really hard to express how much this song means to me.” Grateful for being tasked with an opportunity he describes as “incredible,” this ALPHA 9 remix doesn’t disappoint; the product is a glorious new re-emergence of a trance classic that will remain a staple for time to come and guarantee at least another thirteen years worth of goosebumps.

The anticipation and importance of preserving the source material isn’t lost on the producer Stoliarov,  who has also collaborated with van Buuren on the track ‘Nehalennia’ in addition to remixing ‘Embrace.’ Stoliarov said “I usually prefer not to touch my favorite songs, but with ‘Shivers’ it felt different. I really wanted to play this song in my live ALPHA 9 sets, but so it fitted my current sound and style. I had a pretty strong idea where I wanted to take this remix even before I got my hands on the original.”

“The reaction has been incredible. It warms my heart when I see how many people still remember and love this song, and I can’t wait to share my remix with both my fans and the fans of the original masterpiece.”

One of electronic music’s most active and consistent acts ARTY, a part of the dual-persona music engine manned by Stoliarov, has churned out a range of smash hit remixes for the likes of Halsey (‘Hurricane’ – over 53 million streams), OneRepublic, London Grammar, Above & Beyond, Porter Robinson, and Years & Years. Now residing in Los Angeles, he performs at the world’s biggest clubs and festivals (Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa, Amnesia Ibiza, Creamfields), clocks up millions of streams on Spotify, and continues to craft astonishing singles under his ALPHA 9 alias. His discography is teeming with crowd favorites, and this remix of ‘Shivers’ marks the next stellar addition to the list.

ARMIN VAN BUUREN AS GAIA TAKING OVER AMSTERDAM DANCE EVENT 2018

The two-man front line, DJ/Producer Armin van Buuren and Producer Benno de Goeij (Rank1), have been recording and producing together since the ‘90s. After producing numerous successful albums and a variety of hit singles for Armin van Buuren it was time to form a new group/alter ego called GAIA to captivate the synthesis between old and new and transcend genres.

Armin van Buuren: “Trough out the years we created a variety of synths, beats and loops that were more underground and not always useable for my sound and genre and we always had so much fun exploring different genres we felt it was time to combine this under the name GAIA.”

GAIA is known for creating dance music that transcends genres and doesn’t shy away from experimenting with sounds from the underground of dance. Their exclusive live performance at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) will showcase the unique blend of their greatest hits like “Tuvan” and “Crossfire” with unreleased tracks and impeccable visuals that will be mixed as striking and artfully as the music. Running from the introductory – and legendary – ‘4 Elements’ in 2000 to the reincarnation in 2009 with ‘Tuvan’ and all other uplifting masterpieces since, the track record of GAIA has driven countless fans wild over the past two decades. One of the most mysterious, beloved and – tongue in cheek – impeccably dressed duos of the past, current and even future electronic music generations. GAIA tracks may not come in quick succession, and the duos exclusive live performances may not clog up the schedules of innumerable festivals, so don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to see them live and hear the new sounds of GAIA.

GAIA will return to the stage to perform an exclusive live set during the ADE. The show that takes place on Wednesday night at the Paradiso which is one of Amsterdam’s finest venues, is an unique opportunity for GAIA fans to see them perform live again. This show is set out to be a spectacular experience that will leave Paradiso shaking on her grounds.

GIUSEPPE OTTAVIANI – OZONE (MARKUS SCHULZ + CRAIG CONNELLY REMIXES)

Dropping some fire on your floors two ways this week, Giuseppe Ottaviani’s lined up a remix brace for one of his ‘ALMA’ album’s choice instrumental cuts!

Revampers in the frame are Markus Schulz and Craig Connelly and they’ve zoned in on ‘Ozone’ from two markedly different angles.

Coming in down the more trance-progressive line, Markus’ set-up is every bit as rhythmically hypnotic, as it is thunderously persuasive. He teases the intro out long, before finally hitting release on ‘Ozone’s glidingly aerodynamic melody. A mid-set general – from here you could take the floor anywhere!

With a deepening of drum resonance & bass frequencies, extra reverb on the perc loops and a quickening of the tempo, Craig Connelly carves out a later night slot for his revision. Putting his own spin on Giuseppe’s harmony, he presses the advantage, gating up the big synths, catalyzing them with snare rolls and sticking the drop’s rapturous landing perfectly!

Both mixes of ‘Ozone’ see the light today. Select your weapon here https://blackhole.choons.at/ozone
