SOLARSTONE presents PURE TRANCE RADIO 100

100 weeks have passed since Solarstone started the new, weekly adventure of Pure Trance Radio. He has since put his listeners into a frenzy, with features like #WeLikeItPure, #ProgressiveSelection and of course the beloved #BigTune. Countless Worldwide Exclusives have been premiered, turning into favourites to thousands of listeners all around the globe. To let the 100th anniversary of this one-hour highlight pass, would have been a shame. And so, Rich invited us to join the special 5 hour live broadcast from Amsterdam, on Wednesday August 9th!
From 17.00 – 22.00 (CET), Solarstone and the Pure Trance Team have been streaming live from a very famous radio studio in Amsterdam…(oh yes, ASOT studio)  They had guests over to share their worldwide exclusives and do a short guestmix, discussed the trance scene and music in general, interviewed Pure Trance fans and broadcasted special shout-outs by fans.

The Backstage Access couldn’t miss it, so Ross went there to share a few words with Richard!

Ross: Richard, thank you for supporting the Backstage Access. First of all, congratulations with a 100 episode of Pure Trance radio. What’s comming up for Pure Trance?

Solarstone: Thank you, well ADE [Amsterdam Dance Event] on the 21st of October, right after my birthday. Can’t rember the name of the venue, it was KGB or something [It’s the KBF] with me, Factor B, John ’O Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Gai Barone and Giuseppe, so that’s happening. Also Pure Trance 6 coming out at the end of October or early beginning of November with me, Brandon and Rob and just carrying on with the show and the label, you know, I’ve just got it where I wanted now so we just keep going and make sure the quality of the music is good, make sure the events are good and I’m happy with that.

Ross: And what can we expect from you individually in the future?

Solarstone: New album, which I’m working on right now. Pure Trance 6 as I said before. Pure NRG. Well this is kinda the stuff you already know about, just new material.

Ross: Because about PureNRG. You guys recently released a new single, but it’s the anthem for Istoria! How did that happen?

Solarstone: Yeah, they just asked us to do it! We’re friends with Jeanette, who is one of the people who put Istoria together, and she just asked us to do it and we said yes! We’re actually getting a really really big PureNRG thing coming out in a few weeks time and a really really big remix but I can’t tell just yet what it is.

Ross: All right, back to the radio show. Since you’ve reached a 100 episodes, can we expect any chances in the radio show, like a new format or something?

Solarstone: No no, I’ve been doing the same format for about seven years and I got it where I wanted. The funny thing about this is, Normally I always think this 100 episode thing is kinda bullocks really you know. I just think people are making too much of a big deal out of it but I wanted to do it with Pure Trance because it’s not just for the radio show, it’s about the whole Pure Trance movement and the Trance scene in general, the events we do and the record label. So I thought it was more important to do something like this just to say thanks to the fans you know. I think when I was with the 450th episode of Solaris International, I just burst a balloon in the studio and wore a hat. Because I’ve always felt that it was not much of a big deal doing so many episodes of a podcast or a radio show. But I wanted to do something just a little bit bigger just to kinda make a point that Pure Trance is here and you know. And to be honest with you, I only got the idea when I was here over in the studio doing a radio interview on A State of Trance and Armin told me I could borrow the studio sometime and that’s why I decided to do it because I thought ’’Let’s be the first ones to borrow the studio!’’.

Ross: So after this, because you just said at the end of the episode ’’see you in two years’’, can we expect another event like this?

Solarstone: We won’t do the same thing again, we’ll do something else but I don’t know. Maybe we will do the same thing, who knows. I don’t know yet.

Ross: All right before I leave you, do you have anything to say to the readers of the Backstage Access?

Solarstone: I always get this asked at the end of an interview, if I have anything to say to people, but it’s just the same thing: thanks for the support, thanks for showing an interest and you know, support your favorite artists I guess. I’ve nothing else to say really!

Ross: Well wise words! Thank you so much for the interview Rich and good luck!

FEDDE LE GRAND TEAMS UP WITH SHAGGY AND IDA CORR ON’FIRESTARTER’

RELEASES COMIC BOOK INSPIRED VIDEO
OUT VIA DARKLIGHT RECORDINGS

Dutch dance luminary Fedde Le Grand is never short of surprises. Whether it be his groundbreaking ‘GRAND’ concept, which fuses live music with acrobatics, or his recent collaboration with designer sneaker brand Nubikk, Fedde has always managed to keep fans on their toes over his illustrious career. Now he is back with ‘Firestarter’, a link-up with reggae legend and Grammy winner Shaggy as well as long-time collaborator and Danish star Ida Corr. Out via Darklight Recordings, the track can be streamed and downloaded below.

Listen to ‘Firestarter’

A reunion between Fedde and Ida after 2007 runaway hit ‘Let Me Think About It’ as well as another get-together between Ida and Shaggy following their collaboration on ‘Under The Sun’, ‘Firestarter’ successfully couples them all for the very first time, proving that three is certainly not a crowd. Shaggy’s timeless flow and iconic tone neatly complements Ida’s fierce diva vocals, while both parts are underpinned by jacked-up horns and a dancehall beat courtesy of Fedde. A blend of EDM, ragga and pop, this one will undoubtedly be getting the fire started on dance floors around the globe in the coming months.
Coupled with the track comes a comic book-style music video, storyboarded and directed by Dutch videographer Eauxby. Captain Darklight (Fedde Le Grand) uses his powers to stop Mother Nature (Ida Corr) from destroying the earth, but is overcome with her strength. Luckily, Diligitis, God Of Love (Shaggy), is there to save the day with his seductive ways. Tongue-in-cheek and also veering on the political, the video serves as the perfect accompaniment to this upbeat record.
