ROBIN M RETURNS WITH
THE CLUB TRACKS ‘HANGDRUM / DUST
London based DJ, producer and writer Robin M, returns to the legendary FFRR, with a stellar club double pack that serves up melodic, dark, tribal, afro tinted offerings to take to the dancefloors.
Robin M has certainly made his mark since the beginning of his solo project. As one half of DJ and production duo CLiQ the pair hit certified silver with over 50 million streams on track ‘Wavey’. Since then, Robin M has stepped out as an individual artist showcasing his own sound and style as he now presents his first club double pack ‘Hangdrum / Dust featuring Badbox’.
The artist saw his first underground track ‘Thanks To You’ on taste-making radio platform Rinse FMchampioning it as ‘Track Of The Week’. His second solo production and single ‘Choosy’ further added to his status as the track was championed across Radio 1 & 1Xtra including a DJ Target premiere plus plays in Scott Mills Party Anthems, Rickie Melvin & Charlie, Toddla T and more as well as generating over 1 million combined streams.
‘Hangdrum’ features sounds from one of the world’s youngest instruments. A creation of Swiss instrument makers, Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer, the Hangdrum gained its fame from bands like Portico Quartet for its outer-worldly yet organic timbre. Robin M makes masterful use of the sound layering it with his signature synths, effects and deep, dusty rolling house groove.
‘Dust’ ft. Badbox rambles into shadier territories, a slow-building afro-tech groove with a distinctive synth lead line. Played exquisitely over plodding basslines, ever-evolving chords and a sense of never-ending growth, an ideal set builder that will boost energy levels at any given play.
Brandishing his Afro-tech sound, ‘Hangdrum / Dust’ has already seen support from some of electronic dance music’s big names, Undercatt, Cassius, Chris Lake, Nic Fanciulli, and Gorgon City to name a few. Another product of his urban meets house hybrid sound, Robin M has incorporated ambient tribal vibes on top of a moody house bass with this one, ensuring it as a sure-fire dancefloor hit.
