ADRIATIQUE – ‘NUDE’ LP (AL020)

RELEASE DATE: 26TH OCTOBER 2018

Swiss duo Adriatique proudly announce their forthcoming debut album on Afterlife Recordings – ‘Nude’. Their most personal artistic statement yet, the album captures their feelings and memories. Effortlessly switching between slick, downtempo electronica and driving club fare, this full-length album, allows listeners to hear another side of Adriatique.

The two Adrians’ close friendship and complementary skill sets have helped develop Adriatique into one of the most esteemed acts on the house and techno circuit. Their releases since 2011 have come through leading labels such as Diynamic, Cityfox alongside their own imprint, Siamese. Signing to Afterlife early in 2018, the pair released club-ready single ‘Ray’, it followed their remix of Tale Of Us & Vaal’s anthemic ‘Monument’ and cemented Adriatique as a core artist both on Afterlife Recordings and at their events in Ibiza as well as the rest of the globe. Forthcoming LP ‘Nude’ is the most diverse and adventurous record in the catalogues of both artist and label.

The album writing process coincided with some personally challenging times for Adrian Schweizer in particular. Writing the music became a way for him to express this rollercoaster of emotions. The Sporadic drumming and eerie melody of ‘Dawning’ opens the album, juxtaposing emotions with a bright yet melancholic feel – setting the scene for a tale of twists and turns. This theme continues with the spirited bassline of ‘Awakening Machines’ and the striking angular cuts of title track ‘Nude’ reflecting Schweizer’s contemplation and raging emotions in the rawest sense. Adriatique introduces a softer side, with vocoder-laden synth lines and the angelic vocals of Delhia De France in ‘Tachykardia’.

Fully immersed in Shala and Schweizer’s world of sound, you reach the ‘Point Of No Return’, together with ‘Studies In Dance Theory’ – two of the albums quirky and idiosyncratic club tracks. From there, it’s a soothing descent through the breath-taking collaboration ‘Mystery’ with vocalist Jono McCleery, into the ultrasonic heartbeats of Schweizer’s son on ‘Ultraschall’.

Finally, triumph can be felt through closing track ‘Ray (Re-incarnation)’; a downtempo, orchestral version of the single track ‘Ray’ that is named after Schweizer’s son.

With the presentation of the ‘Nude’ LP, Adriatique prove themselves to be as adept at creating beautiful, melodic songs as they are driving club beats; the two worlds merging on this refined and truly singular album.

LIVERPOOL NATIVE KOKIRI LINKS UP WITH TORONTO’S DRAGONETTE ON NEW SINGLE ‘FAITH IN LOVE’

After courting big acts such as Anne Marie & Marshmello, Jessie Ware, Naughty Boy and Craig David with his ability to craft up infectious, full-bodied vocal House cuts, Kokiri is back with another record that strikes a perfect ten on the catchiness scale. In tandem with Canadian Pop-Electro act Dragonette, the Liverpool-based House guru once again delivers a song that sticks: ‘Faith In Love’

Listen to Kokiri & Dragonette – Faith In Love

Helmed by deep sub bass and Dragonette’s captivating vocals, ‘Faith In Love’ sweeps clubbers off their feet right off the bat. Driving fans further into the sonic deep end with melodically impeccable synth plucks and strong beats, this cut has crowd favorite written all over it and marks a perfect example of how the right link-up can lead to a potential turned dance floor hit.

Kokiri: “Sometimes as an artist, you find yourself listening to a vocal over and over, desperate to find some inspiration at 3am on the 46th listen. This wasn’t the case for ‘Faith In Love’. As soon as I heard the vocal, I knew exactly how I wanted this track to sound. I wanted to create an ethereal feel to mirror the emotional context of the lyrics. I wanted the track to subtly build up in energy and then surprise the listener by having a drop that contradicts the delicacy of the lyrics.”

Dragonette: “This song is about getting through a dark time to the other side. Sometimes we need a reminder that things won’t always be the way they feel in the moment. There was a time when I was 100% convinced that I wouldn’t trust or love again. This song is my reminder to myself, no matter what I think is true about myself. Be open to being wrong.”

Today, critically and commercially acclaimed UK dance music duo, Groove Armada announce their long-awaited return to the live stage, with four very special and intimate capacity UK shows this winter.

The shows, their first since terminating touring as a live act in 2013 to pursue DJ-only appearances will feature the full original band and touring setup performing their biggest hits and selections from their incredibly well-documented career that now reaches an impressive 21st Anniversary.

From the big tents of the nineties to some of the world’s most underground DJ booths, Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay and Andy Cato have roamed freely and inimitably through dance music, embracing musical eclecticism with charm, risk and adventure. Having met in 1994, the pair helped shape club culture since the release of their debut album “Northern Star”. – Time after time reaching artistic peaks with underground reverence, genre-defying energy and dominant pop culture impact.

Speaking on the return of Groove Armada’s live show Andy Cato said: “The live show is what defined us. Refining a genuinely live dance music experience became an obsession, from minute sonic details to the number of sides on the lazer glitter ball. The reward was a lawless and electric 15 years on the road; runs at Brixton so long it felt like we lived there, the loudest ever recorded cheer at Lowlands, taking over Centennial Park in Sydney, Saturday nights in Barrowlands, air traffic control on the phone to the Other Stage at Glastonbury, once you start… We did all this with the best on and off stage crew ever assembled. The vibe in the camp was special and radiated. Behind the scenes, from cooks to truckers, we’re always asked if we’ll get the gang back on the road. If we’re going to do it one more time, it’ll be when we’re 21”Andy Cato

A pioneering combination of performance and electronics, the Groove Armada live show rapidly evolved into one of the very best in dance music, taking electronic music out of the clubs and on to main stages at festivals all over the world.

From Glastonbury to Sydney the shows, packed with era-defining hits like ‘I See You Baby’ and the Grammy nominated ‘Superstylin’ were defined by their display of live instrumentation, impressive visuals and soaring guest vocal performances.

The 21st Anniversary UK Tour kicks off at Bristol’s newest live music venue The Marble Factory on 29th Nov before heading to Scotland to recently refurbished Galvanisers Yard / SWG3 the following evening 30th Nov.  1st Dec see’s Electric Brixton host Groove Armada’s much anticipated capital show before the tour bus embarks for Manchester’s prominent The Warehouse Project on the 2nd Dec.
