COSMIC GATE – YEAH!

Frontend of summer and Cosmic Gate have been having a mainline time of it, up rocking fests (EDC Vegas, SAMF, Ultra Europe & Afterhills among ‘em), whilst smashing clubs in all four corners in between. None of that however has prevented our dynamic duo from finding the time to get studio-side and create a hot-season-stamping number for summer ‘18.

When you see the sun, watch the win, feel the Fahrenheit or hear that Nic & Bossi are back with their first new material since the ‘Materias’, what else is there to say but… ’YEAH!’

Strap in – things could get emotional here. Steeped in evocative reverb, bathed in redolently trickling sub-melody and awash with infectious bleeps and harmonic shafts, ‘YEAH!’s intro sets a big precedent. Shimmering seaside ambiance, flanked by hazily echoing FX and cold filtered perc loops follow, all pointing your mind in but one direction.

Piling atmosphere on atmosphere, each step of its way, the track’s brilliantly structured, extended ride of a drops finally unleashes. Bold brassy stabs, super-low frequency bass, horns, sirens and tech tenacity all land with unstoppable floor force. One impossibly big whoop for the season, ‘YEAH!’ is on the streets from today. GIUSEPPE OTTAVIANI – ALMA [REMIXED]

If you’ve had your ear to the ground over the last few months, the jungle drums you’ve been hearing don’t lie! First contact came via the Giuseppe/Ruben de Ronde remixes of ‘On The Way You Go’, getting louder through the Markus Schulz/Craig Connelly rezoning of ‘Ozone’ in June. It’ll be of no surprise for you to learn that this has all been leading to something far bigger picture. Sourced from his celebrated third artist album, July sees Giuseppe Ottaviani open the taps full, to release a rush of white water ‘ALMA’ revisions.

Giuseppe’s M.O. for the project was simple: take every track in ‘ALMA’s system and send it in a new direction. This he ensured through creative, hand-curated remixer picks that, alongside the aforementioned artists, came to include the likes of Omnia, Tenishia, M.I.K.E. Push and Robert Nickson, and latterly operators like Sean Tyas, Henrik Zuberstein and Monoverse.

Naturally Giuseppe also rolled up sleeves to give some of the album’s cooler and lower tempo tracks, the OnAir treatment. No less than five of ‘ALMA’ trove received clubbier upticks and conversely the Italian’s applied a rarer ChillAir mix to the Eric Lumiere-sung ‘Burn Bright’.

The album’s second coming arrives July 13. All things ‘ALMA’ will never be quite the same again!

So, exactly who’s remapped what?! Well, under his Henrik Zuberstein cloak, John O’Callaghan’s reimagined ‘Primavera’ as a coolly progressive number, complete with a drop that’ll put sundown shivers down your spine. Maintaining the prog theme, Monoverse runs a temperately bubbling acid line right through his refit of ‘Slow Emotion’. The Kyler England sung ‘Firefly’ meanwhile has been given a mainline redux by Omnia, whilst Tenishia supplies extra boom to the bass and emotive edge to Tricia McTeague’s song on ‘Loneliest Night’. Both Ruben de Ronde and Giuseppe have re-sketched ‘On The Way You Go’. Ruben deepens its soundwave, dramatically drawing out the break, while ‘On The Way’s harmonies are allowed to soar higher and curve further through G.O.’s OnAir mix.

Title track honours go to M.I.K.E. Push, with the man bringing added floor bite to its production, and giving the track the most epic of post-break paydays. ‘Ozone’ is another ‘ALMA’ alumni that’s been served two ways. Markus Schulz carves out a rhythmically hypnotic groove for his mix, before hitting release on its gliding, aerodynamic melody. Craig Connelly meanwhile puts his own spin on Giuseppe’s harmony, pressing the advantage by gating up the big synths and catalyses them through snare drum roll.

Given a number of remix options for the album, Robert Nickson went straight for ‘Brightheart’. Christian Burns’ chorus assumes an even more anthemic profile, when set against the Dutchman’s pads & synths. Sean Tyas refits ‘Slow Emotion 2’ with a boisterous and typically euphoric overcoat, which augers Giuseppe’s unveiling of the third ‘Slow Emotion’. A tougher excursion in the series, its tempo shifting dynamic is every bit as effective, surfing an uplifting break through to its tech-attacking conclusion. For ‘ALMA Remixed’ Giuseppe then serves a five-strong volley of his own OnAir elevations. In turn, ‘Wait Till You Miss Me’, ‘Miracle’, ‘Home’, ‘Countdown’ and ‘Aurora’ each take to the skies. For its concluding swansong, Giuseppe drops the house lights and cools the heels of ‘Burn Bright’, adding pathos, stirring splendour and denouement atmosphere to the album.

“I liked the idea of San Antonio because the other side of the island is saturated. Most key artists have their own branded nights and it’s pointless trying to compete there”Geoff Oakes (Renaissance Founder)

Making their debut in Ibiza also most a quarter of a century ago at Ku (now Privilege), Renaissance has consistently drawn underground music’s most sought after acts to the island. Whether it be the likes of DJ elites including John Digweed, Sasha and Carl Cox or live acts such as Moby and Leftfield, Renaissance has been a staple part of the Ibizan youth culture.

Playing host to the world’s holidaymakers and clubbers, the international dance music community championed Renaissance as the go to party destination in Ibiza over the years. It’s without question that Renaissance has conquered some of the finest clubs and largest crowds during their history on the White Isle.

Driving forward into a new era for Renaissance, 2018 has already seen a string of new UK events including a world exclusive b2b closing performance from Sasha and Tale Of Us in Birmingham. The new label releases have dominated dance floors, highlighted by Tale Of Us’ remix of Energy 52’s iconic Ibiza track, Café Del Mar soaring to the top of the Beatport charts. The start of July will also see Maceo Plex remix Remake’s Blade Runner, another production as part of the Renaissance ‘ReMix’ series.

“Eden has an incredible sound system and there’s a definite gap for credible Techno line-ups in San Antonio’ – Geoff Oakes (Renaissance Founder)

With this summer certain to be another momentous year for one of the world’s most respected clubbing brands, San Antonio’s Eden will play host to each of the events starting in July with the closing party confirmed for 3rd September headlined by underground music’s heavy weights Mathew Jonson and Booka Shade (Live).

Renaissance Ibiza takes place at Eden, Ibiza this summer 2018.

Protoculture – Versiform

Making music is about more than just creating monumental records or floor-cracking speaker busters. As much as any other art form, it’s about growth, about sonic evolution, about wanting to push the envelope for the sake of creative freedom. To change and to adapt is to become better, and that’s exactly the notion that South Africa’s leading DJ/producer Protoculture has taken to heart in part one of his fifth artist album: ‘Versiform’.

Ever intent on developing his sound and finding new ways to explore the dance music realm’s uncharted territories, Protoculture spotlights the many colors and flavors of his sound. Juggling shimmering Vocal Trance cuts and instrumental monster tunes throughout the nine-piece album, he shows a new side to his production skill that appeals to the Trance crowd in a new and exciting way.

Helmed by breathtaking records such ‘The Descent’ – a top favorite from Armin van Buuren himself – ‘Secret Weapon’ (feat. Sue McLaren) and ‘Thirty Three South’, this album makes clear in no uncertain terms that progress is power.

SET MO RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘SEE THE LIGHT’

BUY/STREAM HERE

After returning home from a series of highly anticipated US shows, Sydney’s Set Mo (Nick Drabble & Stu Turner) today reveal their new track, “See The Light”. Making this the sixth instalment in their prolific eleven-track output planned for 2018 – each released monthly via Set Mo Records, “See The Light” deviates from your regular Set Mo sound, accentuating the dark and distorted to deliver on an alluringly beautiful release.

“See The Light” was written at the first session of a month long writing trip around Europe including Berlin, London and Amsterdam. Blending natural and heavily produced elements seamlessly, “See The Light” represents a sharp turn away from light-hearted, dance tunes. Gritty basslines and breakbeat rhythms travel throughout the track, edging towards the signature siren that signals each chorus break and warped guitar pedals that remain constant throughout. Working with top tier writer Jimmy Harry who has worked with everyone from Diplo to Madonna to Kylie Minogue, has seen the duo explore different streams of sound and production. Absorbing influences from The Prodigy, Booka Shade and Chemical Brothers, the new direction “See The Light” takes is both exciting and enticing.

Set Mo say of the track: “We wrote “See The Light” the day we landed in Europe to start a month long writing trip. On very little sleep we hit the Berlin studio and walked out with something quite different to our usual style, but we were extremely proud of the song then and are even more so now. “

“See The Light” arrives in succession of their previous releases, including “Fault Lines” which premiered on triple J Good Nights, reached #4 on the AU iTunes Electronic Chart and was added to Apple Music’s A List & a whopping 11 New Music Friday Spotify playlists globally, as well as “Communicate” premiered via Magnetic Mag, the triumphant “Near” featuring Hobart songstress Asta, “Unity” and earlier single “Nightmares” featuring Scott Quinn. “Near” reached #42 in Spotify’s AU Viral 50 and #4 in Kiss FM’s Top Ten charts, while the FBi Radio support of “Unity” and strong triple j love for “Nightmares” has seen the first half of the Track A Month campaign off to an almighty start. Having spent 2017 focused heavily on writing and recording, Nick and Stu are excited to share their abundance of new music, created in studios across London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Australia.

The duo have returned this month off the back of a round of appearances across Portland, San Francisco and the esteemed Splash House festival in Palm Springs (keeping company among Duke Dumont, Dusky, The Magician and fellow Aussies like What So NotMotez and Touch Sensitive). Now back with another career defining single “See The Light“, don’t miss hearing it today ahead of exciting news to come in Set Mo’s track a month series.

Out Now: Andrew Rayel & Corti Organ & Max Cameron “New Dawn” (inHarmony Music)

“New Dawn” is the epic new single from inHarmony Music that’s burning down dancefloors across the globe. The fiery fury of this trance anthem ensures its place in modern electronic dance music.

Explosive. Epic. Monstrous. At last, the massive trance track that’s been obliterating dancefloors and festival fields across the U.S. and world is officially available. Andrew Rayel & Corti Organ & Max Cameron’s “New Dawn” (inHarmony Music) is out now.

The Original Mix of “New Dawn” is like a modern-day version of Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries,” but for young, trance-loving club goers. It’s a passionate siren song that exemplifies the best in contemporary dance music. At every live show where Andrew Rayel plays this out, audiences erupt instantaneously. The scorching energy that results when Rayel drops this tune is akin to an erupting volcano with its raging heat and ferocity. “New Dawn” is a composition for the mainroom at peaktime and it’s not for the faint hearted. This robust, high-energy track is timeless and it’s something that feels eternal.

One of the most memorable elements of this tune and one that sets it apart is the operatic soprano, a female vocal that’s expertly interwoven with the lead melody. The soprano gives the synthesizers a sense of majesty, as though at any moment, the skies may open and heaven and earth will be engulfed in a cosmic shower of exploding stars.

The Radio Edit arrives at the chorus faster, as the track essentially starts its climb right at the intro with the operatic soprano, diving directly into that sumptuous lead melody. “New Dawn” is the soundtrack to a new world born of some extravagant inter-galactic battle, and the track is at once powerful, strong and brilliant.

About InHarmony Music:

Launched in September, 2017, inHarmony Music is the record label headed by Andrew Rayel and distributed by Armada Music. As label chief and head of A&R for inHarmony Music, Rayel is the key decision-maker when it comes to signing new artists and music. Fulfilling a lifelong dream while on his never-ending career quest, Rayel is now able to do for new artists what Armin van Buuren did for Rayel several years ago. The circle is complete. Music lovers can expect the continuation of this abundant supply of lovingly curated new music.

‘Call to Arms’ is the latest cutting-edge production from U.K. trance master Gareth Emery, who is known for his relentless boundary pushing and innate ability to eclipse expectations, and sets benchmarks in electronic music with every new release. Fresh from selling out the 8500 capacity Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco with his encore Laserface arena show, Gareth Emery has further cemented himself as one of the most in-demand live DJs on the planet, and is just as exhilarating in front of a live televised audience of millions (Closing Ceremony of the 2015 European Games), as he is on any global festival main stage or sweaty club rammed with legions of fans. Add to that Emery’s starring role as EDM cult figure Brandon Bass in the Verizon TV series ‘We Are CVNT5’, his CEO position in ground-breaking music start-up ‘Choon’, him being a three-time recipient of A State Of Trance’s Tune of The Year award and his inexhaustible work rate on his own Garuda label, and you have a CV as varied as it is daunting.
