Sydney’s dynamic production duo Set Mo (Stu Turner & Nick Drabble) today unveil their seductive new offering “Near”, featuring the unadulterated vocals of Hobart’s vibrant songstress Asta. Following their latest invigorator “Unity”“Near” is the third track to be released in their prolific eleven-track output planned for 2018 – released monthly via Set Mo Records.

A return to form from the pair’s previous 90s club inspired “Unity”“Near” bursts with vitality showcasing Set Mo’s undeniable flair for delivering impeccably produced feel-good house grooves, brought further to life with the sultry and formidable vocals of Asta. Written three years earlier, the boys struggled to find the perfect co-writer/vocalist to collaborate with, before being blown away by Asta who shook things to a new level.

“The original piece of music, before there were any lyrics, we gave the working title of Near as the track had a warm, comforting feel to it. When we got in the studio with Asta we explored this concept and the broader idea of feeling someone’s presence and aura. This is when the song Near truly came to life. Asta has an amazing voice and we love the more laidback seductive feel in the verses contrasting with the lift in energy and power in the chorus,” explains Set Mo.

“Near” builds on the momentum set by last month’s “Unity” which was added to Sydney’s FBi Radio and Spotify’s Fresh Electronic playlist with over 1.6 million followers, alongside February’s adrenaline-inducing single “Nightmares” (featuring Scott Quinn) and marks the quarter-way point in their relentless 11 track release plan over 11 consecutive months. Focusing heavily on writing and recording throughout 2017, Nick and Stu hit studios in London, Amsterdam and Berlin, and are now excited to share the abundance of new music.

Hip-Hop/EDM duo Price & Takis drop brand-new single, ‘Haunted’ along with accompanying music video and Trap Mix today

Toronto-based hip-hop/EDM duo Price & Takis have released two versions of their lead single, ‘Haunted’, alongside the official music video today. After spending the past two years touring the EDM festival circuit and creating remixes that have amassed almost 200 million streams worldwide, Price & Takis have evolved their sound with deeper hip-hop influences and Price now contributing vocals. ‘Haunted’, which is released in collaboration with Amsterdam-based record label Armada Music, is the duo’s first major release since signing with Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.

Listen to ‘Haunted’ (Trap mix)

“‘Haunted’ honestly feels like our debut as a group,” says Takis. “This is our first song with Price on vocals and the first song I wrote lyrics to. This song is us; every word comes from real moments. We wanted to show the world that we’re not just remix DJs – we’re artists. You can put us in a room with a Macbook and a mic and we’ll make a song with a story that’s authentically us. ‘Haunted’ is as honest as we can be.” Listen to the single HERE.

Their new hip-hop leaning sound is actually a return to their roots: “Price was producing hip-hop records in high-school and I was DJing hip-hop clubs while I was still underage, says Takis.

“We’re still learning and growing with every session. Every night, we’re working on different ways to blend our two favorite styles of music.” It was during one of these creative sessions that Price’s vocals first landed on one of their tracks and their new sound began to take shape.

“On Christmas Eve, we were in the studio with some friends and songwriters who were trying a lot of different ideas on the mic over some chords we had created,” says Takis. Then, (probably thanks to some Hennessy) Price said, ‘Ima give it a shot. I have this idea.’ The songwriters kind of laughed, but on the first take, he freestyled that ‘I’ve been on the road’ melody. I turned to him and gave him a look like ‘That’s fire, let’s keep going!’ Since then, we’ve realized that when Price performs some of our songs, they feel really honest. It’s our way to turn ideas and lyrics in our head into songs without a ‘middleman’. No filter.”

The ‘Haunted’ music video – shot in L.A. and directed by Ryan Craven – takes Price & Takis out from behind their DJ turntables and presents them as the artists they are – up front and center singing their own lyrics over original beats.

Even as they were building their reputation in the EDM world, the Price & Takis live shows always revealed their love of hip-hop. “From Beyond Wonderland to EDC to any of our live shows, you’ll hear us play 90% hip-hop mash-ups,” Takis says.

The duo’s decision to simultaneously release the ‘Haunted’ (Trap Mix) was a grateful nod to their EDM fans who have been supporting them since the beginning. We wanted to find our own way to bridge the gap between hip-hop and electronic music, so we decided to make two versions of ‘Haunted’,” says Takis. “We haven’t really heard of many artists dropping two versions of one song on release day but honestly, this wasn’t supposed to be a strategy. It just felt right to not make our fans wait a month for the release of the remix.” Listen to ‘Haunted’ (Trap Mix) HERE.

After meeting two years ago, Price & Takis (Micheal Assalin & Peter Takis) connected over their mutual love of hip-hop and electronic music and quickly began collaborating together. In 2016, their bootleg remix of Zara Larsson’s ‘Never Forget You’ became one of YouTube’s most-streamed tracks of the year and suddenly, the duo had fans around the world. Price & Takis kept their momentum going within the EDM community by releasing remixes in what became their signature trap and pop-influenced style. Their releases, which include remixes of The Chainsmokers, Shawn Hook and Vanessa Hudgins, and New City, have since amassed over 180 million streams globally and have received the support of world-renowned artists like Diplo, Tiesto, 3LAU and The Chainsmokers. The duo have performed at major festivals such as EDC Mexico, Beyond Wonderland and at premier clubs such as Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub in Las Vegas. Up next, Price & Takis are performing at the Tao Nightclub in Las Vegas on April 20 and at the Ever After Music Festival on June 9.

Next up on Garuda, two brand new remixes of Gareth Emery’s endearing 2014 record ‘Long Way Home’. 2017 was a landmark year for Low Steppa. His highly influential label Simma Black celebrated its 100th release with ‘Karma’, a record he produced with acclaimed singer-songwriter Alex Mills on vocals, and one that led to both label of the month and artist of the month awards from Beatport last summer.

Listen to Low Steppa feat. Ayak – No Love

Outside of the studio, he performed at landmark gigs (including London’s SW4 and EDC Las Vegas), and was also on the bill at seven Defected In The House Ibiza residencies at Eden, with his back-to-back sets alongside Sonny Fodera among the most celebrated of the season. His latest release is ‘No Love’ – a vital house cut with vocals from Ayak released on the mighty Armada Music today.

With Original, Club and Classic mixes to choose from, ‘No Love’ is indicative of the kind of quality we’ve come to expect from Low Steppa. The Original is pure, uplifting house; the Club Mix is chunky and bass-heavy with a huge break, while the Classic Mix is a heads-down stomper with a heady groove. All are exemplary.

This month will also see Low Steppa launch a brand-new series of live shows. Kicking off at Birmingham’s Lab 11 on April 13, Boiling Point will see a handpicked selection of DJ talent join Low Steppa at some of his favorite clubs, with this first party in his hometown followed by an extended run of U.K. shows this Autumn.

Ever since Electronic Family 2017 anthem ‘BombSquadKittens’ shook the very foundations of the outdoor Trance festival, fans have been longing for its official follow-up. That moment has arrived today, as Ben Gold teams up with Ruben de Ronde and Rodg again for ‘Two’, their second collaboration and the second single of Chapter One of Ben Gold’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Sound Advice’.

Listen to Ben Gold & Ruben de Ronde X Rodg – Two

One of the most anthemic singles on Ben Gold’s forthcoming album (‘Sound Advice – Chapter One’, set for release on May 4 this year), ‘Two’ sees the U.K. DJ, producer and label owner team up with Dutch heroes Ruben de Ronde and Rodg for a second time. Blending a beautifully balanced arrangement with three different sound brands and a melody that proves catchy as hell, this cut shows that trice the fun equals two times the quality on all fronts.

Ben Gold: “’Two’ is the second record the three of us have written together, hence the title. We had so much fun crafting up the Electronic Family anthem last year and as I was writing my album, it was a great opportunity for us to team up again. We all played a key part in the writing process of the track and this really shines through in ‘Two’. It was a joy and pleasure to work with these guys, as always.”

Ruben de Ronde: “This is the third time I’ve worked with Ben on a tune and the second time that Rodg is in on the fun too. Even though our styles are a fair bit different, I feel we always come up with something that meets in the middle. I meet Ben everywhere around the world and being able to work with a man like this – and to have Rodg as part of the team-up as well – is always a pleasure.

Rodg: “After the success of ‘BombSquadKittens’, I was very excited to hit the studio again with these two guys to make some more magic happen. I think the result is a perfect fusion of our styles and that it will fit right in with all of our respective DJ sets.”
