let’s celebrate my new born blog with a very special interview:
Today I’ve had the chance to catch up with one of my favorite trance djs and producer, Sied van Riel.
He is having a very busy schedule this summer and a whole lot of new projects on the way, so let’s see what he revealed to me…
Jess : How was your Ibiza’s experience this summer?
Sied : Quite interesting compared to other years, but It was extremely good to see Trance being represented in such a great way.
New events popping up and I was lucky to be part of the new “Connect” nights at Vista Club Privilege. I did the Pure Trance night and “Connect” night. Also the boat parties from Connect & Grotsque.. Very strong line ups through out the season. We’re close to selling out the last boat party so I’m very excited to return there one more time this summer.
Jess: How do you see the trance scene evolving ?
Sied: Without repeating myself, but I think it’s an ever growing scene on a world wide scale.
If there’s one thing about music that never has faded.. it’s melodies and the emotion it brings forward. Chart toping and perhaps gimmicks are just hypes.
They come and go, but Trance has been here since the early 90’s and huger then ever. Just a reminder for those who wonder =) People who say “trance is dead” ughhhh.. I can’t even let it bother me anymore.
You can’t define a way of living or true passion by judging it on it’s presence on mainstream media.
Jess: What are your plans for the next months?
Sied: Expanding my new label “Rielism” and there’s also new merchandise coming up. Besides that, continuing making music and doing gigs.
I’m also slowly starting to prepare “Rielism Vol.4” .. Aiming for a release in the first quarter of 2016.
Jess: When your are not busy touring, working on the studio, or on your radio show, what do you love to do ?
Sied: I enjoy nature, walking with my dogs and I’ve picked up bowling again 2 nights a week. If I’m home and I have time I’ll go there
and play league nights on Monday and Thursdays. On average I spend about 15 hours a day in the studio so
yeah, sometimes it’s good to have a little break and get your mind off of music for a few hours.
Jess: Will we see you in Italy any soon?
(Pizza is waiting )
Sied: Hahaha, I certainly hope so! The last time I was there it was an awesome night. b2b with Leon Bolier in Milan.. I hope I’ll be back again soon to collect that pizza you promised ^^
Jess: Let’s talk about Rielism, how and when did it all start?
Sied: It started out as “Rielalistic Sessions” But I couldn’t even pronounce that name hahahah. So from there it became “Rielalistic” .. still a tongue twister
so finally I came up with “Rielism”. Something that’s close to my heart and really shows people who I am, what I do and what I love about Trance music.
As I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s now a label as well, since May. It’s going really really great and I’m signing more and more tracks now. Quality over quantity
so for now I’m aiming to have 1 single release per month.
Jess: Who would you like to cooperate with for a new tune?
Sied: Uhm, I’m not to sure about that. I am extremely focussed on my own productions again so I’m not really keen to do more collaborations.
I am finishing the new “Sied van Riel & Radion6” and working on a track with ReOrder, but these are the only ones I’m doing for now.
Jess: Many thanks for taking the time and see you soon on the dancefloor !
Sied: Thank you for doing this with me 2 =)
